I was a loyal Best Buy consumer until today. Best Buy consumers PLEASE beware. If you purchase an item as a gift for someone and you give that gift out of their 30 day return policy, you THE CONSUMER are stuck with the gift. The receiver of the gift will not be able to even exchange the product for something they want or can use. As a customer I am utterly outraged by this. I start my holiday shopping early because I have many family members to buy for. I am now stuck with their gifts if they don't like them. I truly hope this policy changes so I can go back to being a happy Best Buy customer.

CONSUMER BEWARE... If you shop at Best Buy PLEASE read this... If you purchase a gift for someone, such as Christmas, and it is out of their 30 day policy, you the customer are stuck with that product. They will NOT even exchange it for something you can use. Best Buy just lost this customer, I will NEVER shop there again. This outrages me as a consumer. I truly hope this policy will change because it is unfair to people who receive gifts.

Best Buy does have extended return policies during the holidays. You might want to wait a little bit to get your gifts until those kick in... shouldn't be too long from now I don't think.

Actually, my facts are correct. I bought a Christmas gift last week for my son at Best Buy. Because I didn't buy it close enough to Christmas he will be unable to exchange it. I have since returned it and took my purchase elsewhere. My point is that people who have a large family, like myself, do Christmas shopping early. Their 'holiday' policy doesn't begin until November. So, as of today's date, the day I wrote this, if you purchased a gift you will be unable to exchange it. There for your comment is useless. Thanks anyway though.

You should wait a week or two when the holiday return policy kicks in.

So, Best Buy should start their extended holiday return policy in.... June?

Welcome to the world of retail. Anywhere you go will have this same scenario. Once Black Friday kicks in, return windows are usually extended through January 15th.
If you buy today, you have 30 days.

Hello akapunky,
Thank you for sharing your feedback with our Community!
It is correct that our return policy is either 14 or 30 days depending on the product, with the exception of Reward Zone Premier Silver members who have a 45 day return period. This policy is required in order to help us serve all of our customers fairly as well as to provide low prices and assist in maintaining an active inventory; however, I apologize that our return period did not to meet your needs and for any disappointment you may have encountered throughout this purchase.
As some of the other users have mentioned, we do have an extended return period for some products during the holiday season. You can find additional details about our policy on our site “Best Buy Store Exchange & Return Policy” page on BestBuy.com.
I can certainly understand your concern as you stated you have a large family and find it easier to shop earlier and with that being said, I will certainly pass your concerns along internally so they may be fully reviewed.
Please feel welcome to reach out to me with any additional questions or concerns you may have. You can do this by sharing here on the thread or by clicking the “Private Message” link by my name below. It is my hope that we will be able to assist you again in the future!
I truly appreciate all of your time and input! Have a wonderful remainder of your week!

And you thought their time line was your only problem they are limiting the number of returns
The reason best buy is collecting your driver's liscense with every return is that there is a company restricting you for 90 days at their discretion from making ANY returns.
I recently had a series of price matches, and since Bestbuy does the transaction as a return my first warning, came with the restriction that "Future Returns Will be Declined for 90 Days".
They had no firm number of returns or any definitive numbers, just that based on your return activity, you are not able to return anything during Christmas for any reason.
If you have to wait 90 days and their return policy says things have to returned within 15-45 days, then you would be out of the time period. Not to mention that silver member status does not matter.
I will NOT BE SHOPPING AT BESTBUY FOR CHRISTMAS, AND WILL RECONSIDER USING THEM AS THE RETAILER FOR THE PROFESSIONAL CAMERAS THAT I BUY.
I have spent almost 4000 dollars in the last 6 months with their company and unfortunately due ot them not fully researching their system and how they do price matches and returns.
So if you have any returns at Christmas and you do it with your driver's liscense you maybe told somewhere that you are not allowed to return them. SHAME ON BESTBUY!
Sincerely,
Disapointed, and shopping Black Friday anywhere but here
