GPU Over Heat Proof

A while ago, I posted here claiming my laptops' gpu is over heating while charging even on

"Balanced" mode it should not make a drastic change in heat when changing from "Power Saver"

to "Balanced" while charging here are the temps right before it went into black screen while charging

under "Balanced" keep in mind that I am playing a game on my laptop since it is a gaming laptop.

Re: GPU Over Heat Proof

First off, it's been two days. Second, no, no one can tell you if you're going to receive a new laptop. That is for the service center to decide. Take it in to your local BB. GS will be able to help you further.

Hi mlgposer,

It is true that the Geek Squad will have to verify the defect in order to perform any repairs.  By all means, take in the details you shared as they may be helpful.  Replacement of your unit would only become an option if it qualifies under the No Lemon Policy, if the unit is unrepairable, or if it is found to be uneconomical to repair.  Ultimately, I do not have physical access to your unit or the technical knowledge to diagnose your unit or speculate about what might happen - the service center will make that determination upon review.

Please keep up posted and let us know how it goes.

Re: GPU Over Heat Proof

My FINAL question lets say it cannot be repaired and I have to get a replacement... will they let me choose a laptop of the value of the one I purchased.

Re: GPU Over Heat Proof

No. It will be replaced with a model comparable in features not exceeding the original purchase price. However, keep in mind that the price you paid has no bearing on the model you get. In other words, you will most likely get a cheaper model.
