Re: Did anyone notice that Best Buy is advertising returns will be honored until January 21, 2011, b

I'm not agreeing with all the complaints on this forum, but it is safe to say that there are more than a few loyal customers that just got the shaft from BB (got the shaft means you did nothing wrong but you are being punished). If you want proof of this...read the forum.

I'm referring to PMs and non-opened with receipt returns.

And as more or more loyal customers learn the hard way (via no refund policy for 90 days), some of those customers will shift their dollars to other companies.

I still buy stuff at BB but I buy a lot less. It isn't thousands dollars like other people, but if an item is the same price (BB vs Amazon or even Saples) I buy it at the other places. Not out of spite, but because I don't want to go over my limit of non-opened returns.

Re: Future Returns Will Be Declined for 90 days

Silver member for the last 4 years+ and I am also a victim of price match 4times and return of 2 items.

- Price match : 4 times for HP lap top

                        2 times for a ps3 game

- return: sony 40 inch tv - first time when opened box found the panel was bent and exhanged- later reutrned becaue did not like the picture quality but bought a bigger magnolia

3d glass was a wrong purchase and hence returned.

Last night when I went for price match I got the 90 days warning and no one in the store could explain.

In fact last night I wanted to buy a camera and accessories but I just walked away.

Can a best buy person explain to me what their stand will be with just 2 actual retuns period.

Now I have unopened items at home, if any problems with them how do I return/exchange????   anyone pls...

Re: Future Returns Will Be Declined for 90 days

I really hope that best buy is doing damage control. They were to update their POS system before Christmas to differentiate whether return or exchange. Customers are going to have issues after Christmas. Why would we buy cameras that could be defective and lose our money? This makes absolutely no sense. False advertising for silver membership and returns.

Re: Future Returns Will Be Declined for 90 days

It's been almost a week and still no credit to my bank account for my last return.  The warning receipt said that the return was approved but it was not your typical return receipt showing you all the credits.   I called 888-best-buy and the customer service rep said wait for 3 more business days.  Hate thinking worst case (small claims court) but I will wait some more.  I have no product (which was defective) and no money. Every time I drive by a Best Buy I have nothing but bad thoughts. This is what third world countries resort to.

And the "best" part is that I cannot "buy" anything electronic because if it's defective they won't exchange it out for me.  Plus if I wait the magical 90 days when will they reject me again if I have to make a return?  If there was one way to lose a customer after 18 years this is it.  I would be better off buying electric gear at a flea market.  At least they have signs saying sales are final.

Unfortunately in Best Buy's system, price matches are registered as a return. So if you do A LOT of price matching of other stores prices(or even BB's own website, which has had some great deals on gaming software as of late), then you risk being put into the no returns for 90 days pile with no real recourse unless you were to have someone else you know do the returns for you perhaps.

Re: Future Returns Will Be Declined for 90 days

The messed up part is that no one will follow the warning's we give.  When I signed up to this site last week it was already too late.  I didn't understand what was going on until I got home and online.  And here's what the receipt says about returns.

"When you exchange or return an item, we require a valid form of ID (see below).  Some of the information from your ID may be stored in a secure, encryted database of customer activity that Best Buy and its affiliates use to track exchanges and returns."

I missed the part where it says returns will be rejected if you return too many times based on a equation that no one knows.  At least be straighforward with your customers before they buy Christmas gifts that might have to be returned or exchanged.   You don't know if you have 3 strikes, 6 or 10; what's the magic number?   Does returning 2 $2000 tv's equal returning 5 $200 tablets?  On Black Friday I bought an ipod touch from Target for my daughter.  Now she tells me she wants my old Android phone.  If this was best buy I would be flagged as some criminal low life looking to beat the system.

Save your receipts boys and girls because this will have major backlash if this is not corrected.  Even if they fix this by ditching this wacky system I will never shop here again.

Re: Future Returns Will Be Declined for 90 days

Last evening I called the TRE 1-888- number and they were absolutely no help. The guy who took the phone said please give your phone number and name, some one will contact you or I can mail the ist of your returns. That was his repeated answers like a robot for 10 times.

Called the corporate office and spoke to the custmoer relations officer and his reply was, I am sorry and I donot know anything about this. I said you are from customer service relations and his reply was I have never come across like this..... and he doesnot know how to find a solution to fix..

Spoke to the store manager and he was surprised to see the price matches were treated like returns which he was not aware till my conversations and he also had no idea how to get this fixed. He said price match is not a return period.

Finally it was just waste of time talking to best buy people.

I decided not to buy from best buy anymore period.

Re: Future Returns Will Be Declined for 90 days

This is exactly what I experienced by calling, there is no dispute process. By the time I got off the phone I felt worse and more unappreciated, and rejected. Oh well, Yesterday I wanted to buy an Apple TV but the apple store had already closed. BB was still open.  I am  waiting to buy at Apple.

Re: Future Returns Will Be Declined for 90 days

After running into the no receipt/no return policy a few hours ago, I figured I'd take a look at the forums. After reading this thread, I had a thought that I just had to share.

You know who else had a pretty strict return policy and wouldn't take back stuff without a receipt? Circuit City. Anyone else remember them and how well they did?

/just sayin'
