I have a DLP tv that is going to be repaired by best buy later this week. Based on what I have read on the forums it seems like the tv will eventually be replaced. Typically what type of tv do you get when they replace the tv? I currently have a 50-inch Samsung DLP tv.

You would get a TV of comparable features not to exceed original purchase value. Was your TV 720p, 1080i or 1080p?

720p, I appreciate the response, but I was hoping for someone who has had their tv replaced to respond to this as well.

That's unlikely. Most customers don't stick around after their issue is solved.

Depending on your store you should get a 50 inch, 720p plasma. This could vary by store however.

Hi gates7318,
I always like it when customers ask in advance how things are handled so they know what to expect from us in the future.
If your TV ends up being approved for replacement, under the terms and conditions of an extended service plan, your local Best Buy® store should replace it with a comparable model TV as determined by that store. The primary considerations are going to be the type of TV, the screen size, and the resolution that your old TV had. If the store doesn’t have a comparable model TV you should receive store credit in the amount of what a comparable model TV would cost today. Keep in mind that the price of the replacement TV or the amount of the store credit cannot exceed the original purchase price.
I hope this helps!

The information does help. I researched what was available at best buy to get an idea of what I would get as a replacement if the repair ended in a replacement. I just wanted to confirm that my guess was right. Thanks for all of the information.

I have another question. Assuming there is a replacement, would I be allowed to chose a credit or would I have to take the replacement I was getting from them?

The store can give a credit for the price of the chosen replacement at their discretion.
