Just bought a brand-new laptop in BestBuy. When I picked up in Frederick, MD store, I planned to check up what's inside of the box there, also planned to partition one harddisk. However, I was informed by the arrogant manager that will be charged $50.00, and it's not free. His face expression is really disgust! Robbery? I left with angry and went to Officedepot, well, I bought another new laptop there and got partition there free. They do not have such charge list written down.
The partition just took 1 min, now I also know how to do it myself! I feel so happy to go Officedepot and plan to return the first laptop to Bestbuy.
If someone wants to know how to partition and extend harddisk, I will be pleased to help you and send you the complete instruction! (Attention, the help instruction in computer has omited one step. Tricky!)

I partition drives numerous times through out the year and it takes more than 1 minute. I will usually charge somone $20-$40 to setup a partition.
I could do it for free, but I have to pay bills and feed my family. I run a small computer business on the side and computer repair is what I do for a living and I cannot afford to do things for free.

I gotta agree with Star. Partitioning a hard drive does NOT take 1 minute, unless that's not really what you're referring to. I'm wondering if you're referring to INSTALLING the hard drive, which does take only a few minutes.

BB is a business, and a much bigger and more successful one than OD.
You're not paying for someone's time, you're paying for their expertise. Could you have done it before that? That's what you're paying for. Some customers don't have time to learn how to do it, and some do. Each person needs to gauge the usefulness of offered services against the cost.
Are you able to change your own oil and filter? Install new pads and rotors? Or do you pay for these services?
I'm sure if anyone googles "partitioning hard drive", they'd find tens of thousands of pages with instructions.

LOL...she would just go and buy a new car.
She bought 2 laptops because she did not want to pay $50 dollars to have the first one partitioned.

While I know how to change the oil, why would I waste my time doing it? ![]()
