Can I return a laptop without the original box?

I want to return a laptop recently purchased from Best Buy, but unfortunately, I no longer have the box it came in. I think the warranty manual was inside. I still have the charger and instruction manual, though. Would this be a problem if I tried to return it?

I cannot find anything within the Returns and Exchanges policy that specifically requires the original packaging - HOWEVER, due to the nature of the issue with the Laptop, if we cannot resolve the issue stated in your other thread than I would highly recommend bringing the product to a Geek Squad presinct to have them repair the computer. Due to the nature of the issue with your laptop, the repair should be covered by your computer's Warranty. In the event of a computer repair, always confirm that it would be covered prior to agreeing to any repair services.

Yes.  As long as you have all of the original parts (AC Adapter, Battery, any software that came with the computer).  Please be advised there is a 15% restocking fee if the computer is not defective.

I am employed by Best Buy Co., Inc. Any opinions expressed are my own personal views and not those of the company.

Also keep in mind the following return restriction, in addition to the restocking fee that was already mentioned:

14 days for computers, monitors, projectors, camcorders, digital cameras, and radar detectors

About the warranty - would I need the warranty...manual...thing that came in the box? Like I said in another post, my dad burned it, so it's gone. Is the proof of warranty recorded electronically, or something? All I have is my receipt.

The BBY internal systems have the warranty on file. You just need to provide your phone number and they can pull up that warranty. The Warranty is seperate from the physical return policy.

Thank goodness. Do you have any idea if the standard 1-year warranty would cover what's happening to my laptop (if it gets worse, I mean)? You know, the random crashings.

Depends if its hardware or software.

If it is a hardware problem then yes, if it is a software problem then no.

Usually in these cases it is a software problem and unfortunately Toshiba will not pay for the repairs.

What you need to do is go into a store and see if you cannot exchange it out, do NOT wait another day because if you are ONE day outside the 14 day they can say no and you are stuck.

Re: Can I return a laptop without the original box?

I bought it on July 4th so I should have until the 18th. However, would I still be subject to the restocking fee? If it's 15%, I don't want to pay around $100!!

PLEASE HELP!! NEW Toshiba Satellite crashing, can I return it?

Hello! I really need some help here. I purchased a brand new Toshiba Satellite A505 model from Best Buy about two weeks ago. And two days ago, it suddenly started crashing/blue screening on me at random times. This is awful as I expected a quality product from Toshiba for the money I paid. Seeing as this is a hardware issue, I want to return it, to hopefully get it exchanged for a new one. Is this possible? It came with a 1-year standard warranty. I do not have the warranty booklet it came with (because my father accidentally BURNED it), but I DO have my receipt for the laptop. Can I return or exchange this??
