I recently bought a new MacBook Pro 13" (The $1199 model with 250 gig hard drive). I was wondering what would happen if I decided to replace the hard drive to a larger one, or add more RAM, and needed to submit a warranty claim for something? Would Best Buy/Geek Squad refuse to repair my MacBook because I have upgraded components and the MacBook is not in its original configuration?
I would like an answer to this, because if it voids my warranty I will end up returning my plan and getting a refund. I had bought the 2 year ADH for $349.99, and if there is going to be a issue I might as well get my money back and put it towards a new ipod touch.
Unless you have GS install them, the new parts are not covered. So, if the RAM went bad, it would not be covered under the GSBTP plan. The rest of the computer is still covered. However, if those parts cause a problem, it isn't covered.
