Best Buy Refused Price Match.

Here is the story.

I walk into Best Buy Tyler, Tx.

I ask for 3 Panasonic Plasma 42" 42X1 TV's.

I ask to price match.

Local Competitor: S***s

Price: $599

In Stock: Yes

Same Model Number: Yes

First Visit: Was denied because BEST BUY called S***s and S***s did not have it in stock and he could not sell it because it was under cost and best buy would lose money. (Is this my fault?)

Second Visit (Same day): I called S***s and confirmed that it was in stock, then a different manager called S***s and also confirmed. But denies price match becuase previous manager denied (Store manager) and needed rationale because he  could not get in touch with him.

I asked him what if another customer walks into the store with the same ad and asked for price match? The manager replied that he would give it to that customer but not us because first manager denied.

Discrimination? Racist?

Anyone can give me any reason why I  am denied the price match? I don't see anything in the price match policy that it is up to the store's discretion.

Re: Best Buy Refused Price Match.

Best Buy also has the right to limit quanities on ALL it's merchandise. So perhaps they would sell one at that price, but not 3.

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.

Like Starflyer said, just buy it at the other joint.

Hi avu02,

I have to start by saying that discriminatory or racist behavior is not tolerated by Best Buy®. I wasn’t happy to read that you were not satisfied with how the price match you requested was handled by our store in Tyler, TX, and I have made the store aware of your dissatisfaction.

We do have a price match policy where our stores will match lower prices found at local competitors. The store should have price matched the TV you wanted as long as the store that has currently has the TV on sale for a lower price is considered a local competitor, they can verify that the competitor has the TV in stock, and that the lower price isn’t due to a clearance or going out of business sale. To read a more in depth description of our price match policy you could look here.

It sounds like the first store manager you spoke to denied the price match due to the fact that the local competitor didn’t have the TV in stock when you first requested the price match. The second manager you spoke to should not have denied the price match if the local competitor currently had the TV in stock and all of the other criteria for a price match were met. The fact that the initial price match was denied by a manager should not exclusively rule out getting a price match done on the same TV in the future.

If the local competitor still has this TV on sale I would be more than willing to personally look into this for you, and see if you qualify for a price match. If you want me to look into this for you just send me a private message by logging into the forum, clicking on my icon, and then clicking on the send this user a private message link.
