Re: Best Buy Price Match

Jim, this is why Best Buy is going to go bankrupt. Because they let Store Management run the store like a fiefdom, this is not how a business should be run. If BestBuy dictates that you should be price matching stuff, it is not up to the local Best Buy to decide hey, i don't want to price match this just because i can. This is a continuous problem amongst many other things and all you need to do is read each page of this forum going back two years to understand this.

Re: Best Buy Price Match

I'm not going to sit here and debate "why" Best Buy is having their problems, as I don't think anyone here really knows why besides speculation. Their "fiefdom" has worked for many, many years. I'm far from saying you're wrong, but I don't know if you are right either.

Neither of that matters. I'm trying to help the OP get his problem fixed and not debate the merits of BBY

Re: Best Buy Price Match

Neither I, nor Jimmie, said it was the BEST way. We were trying to explain the facts of WHY it happened. Your opinion should definitely be passed on to a Corporate employee, as I do think that the stores should all be completely uniform, policy-wise.

However, I think the reasoning is because each store is responsible for it's own bottom-line and may know what is "better" for their store than a corporate employee. I use the term "better" loosely, since in this case it's very subjective. It takes some of the burden off of a Corporate, but at the expense of things like this happening.

Re: Best Buy Price Match

I e-mailed corporate and they asked for more information.  I may just scrap it and order it on-line from B&H for $163.17.  They do not charge shipping or tax.

Re: Best Buy Price Match

You definately can steve. Sorry the PM has been a huge hassle and wish it would have gone better.

If you do choose to still try to PM a mod will normally be here within the timeframe I posted earlier.

Steve, the same exact thing happened to me with a Best Buy price match and the mods here said, sorry but nothing we can do. Just go elsewhere and let Best Buy learn the hard way.

Re: Best Buy Price Match

Hydrogen, it is not up to the local stores to decide what is BEST FOR THEM. Best Buy corporate have policies in place for a reason. Steve and i both met without a doubt the policy that Best Buy set forth with price matching and the stores rejected us even though they are not suppose to. This IS the problem with Best Buy amongst others as to why it's business is suffering. Look at the sticky thread on top of page 1 hydrogen, Best Buy stores have been rejecting coupons for YEARS and best buy corporate had to step in and tell the stores they need to take these coupons because it is their policy, how sad is it that we have to have a sticky thread saying stores MUST take coupons?

Re: Best Buy Price Match

Hi stevenbrim,

So the Apple Airport Extreme is readily available in B&H Photo and our West Paterson, NJ store wouldn't price match it? As long as it meets the listed criteria in our price match policy, I'm not sure why you had this problem. With that said, I'd like to talk to you more, so I'm sending you a private message. Private messages can be seen by logging into the forums and clicking the envelope icon.

Sincerely,

Re: Best Buy Price Match

Not sure why you are still trying to argue with me. Like I said, I don't think it's the best way, but it is what it is. I agree that a price match shouldn't be denied if it meets all criteria. I was just suggesting a possible reason WHY it works the way it does. Just because I think things SHOULD be a certain way, I realize that they may have justifications, good or bad, for the structure of the corporation.

Just because I think things SHOULD be one way, I understand that it's likely a lot more complex than it seems and there may be a good explanation of why things are ran the way they are. There are too many factors to consider to make it a black and white issue.

Regarding the coupons... It's sad. I agree. Anyone that works in retail should know that the store is reimbursed for MFG coupons and that they will not affect their bottom-line. In that case, there is absolutely no reason for a store to NOT take a MFG coupon. Store coupons are a different animal, though. However, that sticky isn't a message to the stores, but to the customers.  I'm sure some correspondence was sent out to non-compliant stores, but we don't know how widespread the issue truly was.

And, to be a bit pedantic, that thread isn't even a year old yet.. Years is multiple. Although, that's pretty moot and irrelevant to the conversation.

Re: Best Buy Price Match

Just to make everyone aware I was contacted yesterday by Best Buy and given the price match.  I picked the router up today.  I have always had a good experience with Best Buy in the past and I am even more impressed with their prompt follow-up and resolve of this issue based on my single posting.  I will continue to give my business to Best Buy.
