Bad Customer Service at Hulen/Bryant Irvin Store

Last night I entered the Hulen/Bryant Irvin store #176 with my laptop that was insured.  The manager of Geek Squad Ray treated me extremely unfairly and rude.

I was accompanied with a close friend who witnessed the whole event, she spoke with one of her friends who had a run in with the same person stated above earlier this year.  She was also treated rudely with a little name calling added to the conversation.

Why has this been allowed in a time when there is so much going on and we just need some positive service that leaves us feeling good?

Hulen Store 176

Last night I was treated unfairly and rudely by the Geek Squad manager Ray who informed me he was the be all to end all manager of customer service at this location.  I called and reported the incident to corporate, they called him and he said none of it happened.  He was asked and told to leave me alone and walk away.  I had nothing more to say to him but he refused to do so.

I was accompanied by a close friend who was retelling the story to one of her close friends who also had a bad taste left in her mouth from the same manager.  She also called corporate and was told they would handle the situation internally but he was still allowed to treat me with such utter disrespect last night???

We are a country at war, a country in an economic crisis, we are at battle with each other, a country filled with racism and hatred...basically we have huge problems.  The last thing I need is someone telling me that I don't know what I am talking about and treating me as if I was the wicked step child that has come home to the unwelcoming selfish step father.   Why is this allowed???  I know there have been thousands if not millions of good hard working American citizens trying to change this country and make it the great nation it could be that are out of work and can't find a job.  These people just need a job and would do just about anything to pay the bills for their families.  Why does he still have his, when there could be several excellent people that would be willing to give more effort and provide a positive experience to every customer they encounter, whether it is a good day or not??  I am beginning to question the integrity of Best Buy when I have never done so in my life.

I did go and get my problem handled at the Ridgemar store, which the manager and geek squad personnel treated me the way a customer should be treated.  They were excellent!!!  They are everything that store 176 should be and could be and once was.

I should know, I have shipped there since the day they opened, been in the lines at 2 am on "Black Friday" every year eager to spend some serious cash.  It is tradition that has now been broken.  I nor my family plan on standing in Hulen's line.  I am not alone in my feelings either, with others experiencing the same abuse and neglect, no wonder Circuit City has become more popular in my area.

Thank You or your time and concern...I wish things were different.  I hate switching regular routing and changing tradition that is eagerly awaited all year long.

Re: Hulen Store 176

Hello,

          carlyepstein

Im sorry to here about your experience at that store.  If I knew a little more about what happen I maybe able to spread some light on the situation.  I do know what it's like to be treated unfairly.  I've been with Best Buy for 5 years now, and it really does bother me to lose a good customer.  In fact you are the reason I still have my job.  As a company we are far from perfect, our customers is what allows us to grow.  Not knowing your exact situation all I can say is not all stores are the same, we do have the same vision and to me that's what is important.  I hope you can find peace with this and allow us to serve you again at some point.

Thank you for your post and please let us know what we can do for you to help ease the situation.

Re: Hulen Store 176

Hello Eric C.

Basically I went in to get an insured laptop fixed.  Ray wanted to charge me 160 for a backup disk that wasn't even 2 GB.  He had no other solution and wasn't willing to do anything.  He sat there and told me that I bought insurance and that was it, he wasn't going to do a thing for me.  He informed me he was the end all to be all at that certain store.  I am beginning to feel he is correct.  The reason is, I have spread the message like a wild fire with people I know that live close and are all either shoppers or potential shoppers.  Others have shared similar stories of this man and how they weren't' treated like a true customer.  Funny part is that all the ones that have a story to share are females.  He goes after what he thinks is the weak and those that he feels won't cause a threat to him.  He has been reported before, others have said they had reported him and nothing has ever been done to him.  Why is he still a manager when he is as rude as possible and threatens women either verbally or with a show of his fist??

So Eric, the one thing you can do is the thing that should of been done the first time he ever had a conflict with a customer.  FIRE HIM!!!  I will not endorse nor buy from a company that endorses managers that act as negatively and abusively as he did.  This is the reason I went on this site, your complaint call center has done nothing.  Your allowing a great store that is large and full of goodies go down the tube because you company can't control its managers actions.  Their is no excuse for how he has acted with me or with others in the past.  It is ridiculous that this be allowed to continue.

About store 535

I must agree with you. The service at the stores is terrible latley. I wonder if they even know what customer service is. It has taken me 2 1/2 months to try to replace a battery in my lap top that is under extended warenty and I am still waiting for a battery. Five trips the the store, 40 miles round trip, a $100.00 back up disc that was not needd because it was not even sen out for servce requested and I still do not have a battery.

Right, they certainly seem to be booming. Look, you may have had a poor experiance but you come off as a loon by mentioning the fact that our country is at war, and the other things you mentioned. Deal with it. Stop crying over spilled milk. Did you read your service plan prior to purchase? Probably not. The fee incured I am quite sure was justified. As a consumer you feel it shouldn't be but you the consumer need to be better educated before complaining.

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.

Re: Bad Customer Service at Hulen/Bryant Irvin Store

Hi carlyepstein,

As Eric-BBY stated, I too am really sorry to hear about your experience in our store, and I never want to hear that we have lost a good customer due to such circumstances!

We expect our employees to be professional and courteous to our customers at all times, and I am disappointed you did not feel our store management met these expectations.  These details have been forwarded to the appropriate management teams for further internal review.  While we are unable to share details of any action taken for employee confidentiality reasons, please be assured that we do take your concern very seriously.

On a brighter note, I am very happy to hear that you have purchased the Best Buy® Accidental Damage from Handling Performance Service Plan (ADH PSP) on your laptop, as your ADH PSP will cover the cracked screen your unit has sustained.  Unfortunately, however, this Plan does not cover any software related issues – including data backup, and the price of any data backup service would be standard.

I apologize again for the way this situation left you feeling, and I am committed to making sure that no similar experiences occur in the future.  Please feel free to send me a private message if you have any additional questions.

Thanks carlyepstein!

Re: Hulen Store 176

lol circuit city getting popular but won't last long!

anyways.......... my opinion in your situation. don't let ONE person ruin your experience with best buy. every employee in best buy, they're just humans. there are humans with bad attitude, could easily just be got up on the wrong side of the bed.

my opinion, shop at another best buy then, most likely they will have another manager that has a lot better attitude. you can shop any where but if u have to deal with a person, you gonna get that person's "attitude". could be good, and at the same time could be bad.

Re: Bad Customer Service at Hulen/Bryant Irvin Store

Two years later and things haven't improved.  I won't go into details.  I will say there are maybe one or two geek squad members at the Bryant Irving store that have a tiny bit more knowledge than I do about computers and that's shameful.   The customer service idiocy goes all the way up to the corporate level.  After dealing with a customer service supervisor at the home office level I am convinced these people have absolutely no clue about what they are talking about, customer service or computer wise.  Buyer beware.

I DO NOT work for Best Buy. I used to be a Geek Squad Agent for 2 years and this is why I am well versed on their policies and procedures, but I do not work for them anymore. My posts are my own opinions and do not represent any opinions of Best Buy. If you still try to imply that my posts are representing Best Buy, well that's your problem, not mine or Best Buy's.
