I would like to purchase 2 laptops for my daughters for Xmas but will not have my Xmas bonus in time. I checked on a Visa card and can get one but saw the 0% Interest Ad for the Best Buy card and was curious if I should go with it. Does your credit score effect the Best Buy Interest as much as it would a Visa card. I have decent credit but not excellent.

Applying for the Best Buy credit card is just like applying for any other department store card, they have the initial credit check. From there you either declined or approved for program A or program B, there is a little higher interest rate on program B and you cannot get a credit limit increase. However all of the financing offers are for anyone with a card. 90 days no interest on all purchases, 6 months no interest on purchases $299 and up, and then the weekly finance offers!

I am sure your daughters will be surprised at their gift this Christmas! When you apply for the Best Buy® card, there are two types of cards you can apply for. There is the Best Buy™ Credit Card that comes with great financing offers; the current standard offers include no interest on all purchases for 90 days and no interest for 6 months on all purchases totaling $299 and up. Some general offers include 90-day interest free on any purchase and anything above $299 is 6-months interest free. There are also additional special offers which may vary each week for different product categories (for example, 18 months no-interest on laptops or 24-months no-interest on appliances); these are featured in the weekly Best Buy® circular ads. There is no application fee and you can apply online or at any local Best Buy® store.

As for the Reward Zone MasterCard program, your specific interest rate will be determined upon review of your credit history and application. The benefits of the Reward Zone MasterCard is that for every $1 spent you earn a point points toward reward certificated to use towards music, movies, electronic and more at Best Buy®. I hope that one of these credit cards fits your lifestyle.

After all the horror stories of HSBC's crazy billing cycles and changing due dates I would never apply for the BB card.

I can certainly understand your disappointment if you were unaware of this until getting the card in the mail. On the application page, it states: "For your convenience, if we find that we cannot approve you for a Best Buy credit card at this time, we will automatically consider you for a Gold MasterCard® with Fee." For any questions regarding your application, you may contact HSBC at 1.800.298.4240. Please know that I will also forward your feedback to the appropriate management teams, as we definitely want our customer to be delighted by the services offered by HSBC.
