I quote the below text from Best Buy's Store Return Policy:
Restocking Fee:
A restocking fee of 15% will be charged on opened notebook computers, projectors, camcorders, digital cameras, radar detectors, GPS navigation and in-car video systems unless defective or prohibited by law. A restocking fee of 25% will be charged on Special Order products, including appliances unless defective or prohibited by law.
So it is not all items that are effected by this nor is it all situations. If the item was defective there would be no restocking fee as obviously we would not put a known defective product out on the shelf again. Another thing is that we have to mark all returned merchandise on the floor as "Open Box" and discount it by 15% for re-sale. Therefore the 15% restocking fee helps to offset this loss.
I hope this information is helpful to you.

According to their websites, Officemax and Staples do not have restocking fees.

Hi so what is the 15% fee charged with. Is it with what you paid for the product. Like I paid 399. for a camcord so my restocking fee would be what. 60.00 buck or what. Just want to know in case I wanted to exchange my camcord truely thinking about it depending on the price of the fee. lol..
Thanks, LadyDee227
