I was informed by a friend that she was nearly coaxed into purchasing this servicefrom Geek Squad, and I'm extremely glad she talked to me before making the leap, as I had saved her 130 bucks. What justifies the expensive cost of this service? I'm honestly disappointed in Geek Squad for taking advantage for people who do not know as much about technology. Even though I'm sure most gamers would know how to operate the PS3, and most others would just read the instruction manual, the few that don't are just paying way too much for your service. I don't mean to troll, I'm just expressing my opinion on this particular service. I say this unaware of the price rates of other Geek Squad services, but this just angered me. I don't think I can recommend Geek Squad for gaming services like this in the future, unless this can be changed in some way.

Hi there and welcome to the Community. We develop, market and perform services that people have asked for. If people we have surveyed had not asked for a particular service, we would not spend money to market it. I appreciate your feedback about this service though. Thank you.

People have asked for this? Really?
Apparently, I'm not the only one that thinks it's a rip off: http://kotaku.com/5363264/seriously-this-should-be
Mind you, the picture is not mine, but I needed a visual of the ad. Now, I feel I have to with that friend to Best Buy every time to make sure she doesn't get ripped off. It's maddening.

You would be surprised how many people call me in the store asking how to connect and setup game systems... or any home theater product for that matter.

Right, but for 130 dollars? Ridiculous. I don't even know how you justify that price.

Price of the vehicle to get the installer out to the home, labor rate of the installer, insurance to cover the work performed, any supplies used while in the home (wire management), ect.

So, I should be payed 130, right? I'm sorry, I just find this comical. There is no way I can recommend Geek Squad with these prices, and I will certainly make sure anyone I know doesn't go there either.

You are in no way forced to purchase any service, it is merely offered. Those that need it or want it, purchase it. Those that do not, do the setup themselves.

Using the manual, right? I mean all the services that you describe in the ad, can be done using the manual. I'm sure you don't tell your customers that, do you?

Some people read manuals, some people want it done for them at any cost because they do not want to deal with it. The services industry was built on the principle that some people do not know, do not want to know and do not want to deal with the knowledge to perform a task. Some people's time is far more valuable to them and they would rather not spend it sitting for a couple of hours on the living room floor connecting a home theater component or game system. Some people can change their own oil and others pay someone to do it. Some people clean their own house and other pay maids to clean for them.
