Ever since the SNES, Nintendo has been a pioneer in the gaming industry boldly blazing a unique path through innovation, creativity, and entertainment. Nintendo’s latest console takes the ever-popular Wii and expands upon it to bring you the latest in console technology.
Wii U and… You!
The first thing you’ll notice when looking at this masterpiece is a somewhat unconventional controller. While you can use the new traditional style controller or your existing WiiMotes and other accessories depending on the game, the main focus is going to be the GamePad. The GamePad features the usual controls one would find when playing a console but also features a 6.2” touchscreen to give you ways to interact with your games and media in ways you wouldn’t imagine.
The GamePad immerses you into the game world in a way only Nintendo can achieve. You use it as an interactive map, a projectile launcher, and my favorite, independent split screen. The new technology allows one player to use the TV and one to use the GamePad to compete and cooperate all from the same console. The days of multiple people on a screen are gone.
Speaking of the independent screens, the Wii U is designed from the ground up to seamlessly integrate with nearly any household. Playing a game on the big screen when someone wants to watch the evening news? You can move the game from the screen to the GamePad freeing up the TV and keeping the peace your home. Also, the new touchscreen controller is a perfect addition to your home theater and is quickly going to become one of the best ways to interact with TV.
There are 2 versions of the Wii U going on sale this holiday season. First you have the Wii U Console Basicwhich includes the console, GamePad, stylus, sensor bar, and an HDMI cable. This package is designed to get you up and running in no time.
The other version is the Nintendo Wii U Console Deluxe Set with Nintendo Land that comes with the console, GamePad, GamePad Stand/Cradle, console stand, and a fun filled game appropriately titled Nintendo Land that showcases a lot of what the Wii U is capable of.
