Best Buy Life: Fallout 4 Preview

I have to be completely transparent and admit that I’ve only played a few hours of Fallout 4.  Doesn’t life understand that it’s Fallout 4 time?

I was able to create my character, get some background story and navigate the terrain.   I love what I’ve seen!

Let me add a little context to this preview.  I spent hours (Seriously played 27 hours straight) with Fallout 3.  The game grabbed me and kept me wanting more.  I played all the expansions and found myself engrossed in the world.  It became one of my favorite games and really changed the landscape of gaming for me.  Fallout: New Vegas didn’t quite hit home with me, but I still put a lot of time into it.  My hopes were high for Fallout 4.

The intro segment seemed a little out of place for me, but as soon as I got out of the vault I remembered what I loved about these games.  The atmosphere, the landscape, the melancholy feelings and drab color pallet were rekindling all those fond memories I’ve had with previous games.  I really enjoyed returning to my characters house and seeing what it was like now.  It really set in the magnitude of what happened.   I may be the only person, but I love turning off the radio and letting the soundtrack/ambient noise guide me on my journey like a slight breeze directing my movements and decisions.

I’ll avoid any spoilers, but I’d imagine most of you are farther along in the game than I am.   I explored and met some very interesting characters.  I finally was able to make it to Diamond City.  This is where I’ll leave the preview and save the rest for my final review.

What are your initial thoughts of Fallout 4?  What’s the first thing you did after leaving the vault?  Feel free to comment below or on the “What are you playing?” thread.  Please no spoilers.
