ipod screen broken

I bought an ipod touch at best buy on 2/26/12, I didn't buy the extended protection for it, and I dropped it yesterday and the screen broke. I got emails saying that I had until the April 26th to purchase the extended warranty, if I go in and purchase the warranty now will it cover the broken screen?

Apple also sent me an email offer extended warranty, but I don't know if Best buy or apple covers more?

Re: ipod screen broken

I could be wrong but I don't think it covers pre-existing damages.

Apples will not cover it all. Only thing they offer a accidental handling on is the iPhone with the purchase of the AppleCare+ plan which as far as I know is still not available for the iPods which even their website shows just the AppleCare plan for iPods and AppleTV.

Otherwise you are looking at having Apple repair it at a cost between 99 dollars and 199 dollars depending on size you got.
