I did the normal procedure to unfreeze it but now everytime i go to turn it on an error message pops up. its a red x with an apple website across the bottom. I went to the website and did what it said to do but my ipod still wont respond to anything... please help! i just bought this ipod a few months ago...

Re: Ipod help please

If you purchased the Ipod from a BBY i would recommend stopping by with your Ipod and the reciept showing payment and have one of the Geek Squad Agents take a quick look at it. They might have seen this before as where i have not with any of my Ipod's.

Re: Ipod help please

I had mine freeze like that a couple of times but normally I just let the battery die, recharge it, and it works fine. You might want to google that problem, because google may have the answer to your problem. But if anything, I would contact Apple first since it is their product, and then if all else fails, a Geek Squad agent.

Re: Ipod help please

Hey bethstar1990,

While iPods may freeze from time to time due to minor software problems, you should really only be seeing these kinds of error messages if there is some sort of internal hardware failure.  If you’ve already tried all of the troubleshooting steps on Apple’s website however, repairs may be your only option.

On the other hand, Phil is also right in mentioning that you may want to contact Apple directly before seeking any kind of repairs.  Apple support technicians may have additional trouble-shooting steps that they can walk you through over the phone.  Apple can easily be reached toll-free at 1-800-275-2273, but remember that you may always bring your iPod into your local Best Buy® store if you would prefer a more local repair option.

Thanks,

Agent Aaron

Re: Ipod help please

it all depends on where it is on warranty. if it goes to your local apple store-they'll find the answer....

sounds like a hardware situation

Re: Ipod help please

Just an FYI.

To restart all NON iPod Touches press the center button and the menu button at the same time for about 5 seconds. This will do a hard restart of the iPod.

iPod Touches - Simply press and hold the "Home" key and the power button until the unit restarts.

Unfortunately, that's the bad luck of any electronic, there's going to be bad Apples... wait that's a horrible pun.
