GE refrigerator 2003

We have a question about our refrigerator because the light is on and the fan is working but the fridge is not cooling at all. The temperature is set to nine for the freezer and the fridge, yet it still is not cooling. What do we do?

Re: GE refrigerator 2003

Good morning hp2008 -

If your unit is not cooling, even though the light is on and fan working, you most likely have either a compressor issue or a freon issue.

I would suggest contacting a repair person as soon as possible, before you have a total failure on the unit.

I hope this helps!

Sincerely,

Dorothy

Re: GE refrigerator 2003

Hi,

Do you have the model number for the fridge? Do you see a fan on your fridge? or are you reffering for the humming noise...if you are, thats the compressor running. If it's a 2 door fridge and only the fridge is not cooling but the freezer remains cold/frozen...its a defroster problem (maybe system board, defroster sensor, circulating fan (usually hidden) or defroster itself. Otherwise, a freon leak or a failing compressor  as Dorothy has posted above.
