I am in California... I see in Arizona they start a Rebate program similiar to "Cash for Cluckers".  I need a new fridgerator, but do not want to purchase just before the program begins..  My fridgerator works, just older and getting cranky...  Any ideas when California will start their Federal Program??

Each state has until October 15th to apply for the federal aid but the date for which it will roll out to the consumer hasn't been announced.  I believe they are shooting for mid November though.

Great question! I think it sounds pretty awesome myself! Best Buy® has been in conversation with Congress in regards to supporting their plan to initiate this stimulus package based on sales of energy efficient appliances. As an appliance retailer, we are interested in participating in this program, however we are unable to provide specific details of this program yet, as we are waiting for details from the states. The Federal Government has passed this program onto each State Government. Each state has until October 15 to submit a proposal on the timing, dollars, and which appliances will qualify. This will vary state to state.


You can expect more details as they become available to us! Keep an eye on our Appliance forum for more information regarding the State Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program (SEEARP).

I purchased a Samsung energy star washer yesterday at Best Buy in North Carolina.  I read that all applications for the cash for clunkers appliance program must be completed by Oct. 15, 2009 by each state and I was wondering if you could update me on its status with Best Buy in NC.  In particular, if my purchase will qualify.  There are two appliance stores in our area who are advertising this program and one offers an application for reimbursement.  But since each store can choose the products for the program, this store did not choose Samsung.  They probably do not carry Samsung thus no rebate.  This appliance store offered a rebate form which is to be mailed to: Rebate Center  Brand Source SA C4C Rebate  2121 Natomas Crossings Dr, Suite 200, #304  Sacramento, CA 95834.

Do you have any info on this program being offered by Best Buy in North Carolina and if so, how do I get the rebate form and to whom do I send it?

In order to get the jump on things, I suggest keeping an eye on EnergyStar.gov.  In fact, checking it often is a great way to catch all the rebates from National, State, and Local levels when purchasing a new appliance.
