The answer is money. Not to be crass but that is what it takes.
First you need to decide which carrier you want to go with. I personally use Verizon and am happy with them.
Then you go into the store and get set up with cell phone associate and tell them you want to get a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and which carrier.
If they have it in stock for that carrier you will choose your data plan. The associate should be able to get everything set up for you.
You will need to have a Credit Card and a credit check may take place.
Your monthly costs will be
Data Plan $35, $40, $50 or $65 a month ($65 is unlimited data)
Monthly Payment on the phone for 24 months. Right now that phone is on sale for $24.99 per month
Montly Access fee. About $20 a month
Taxes and other fees
I would also strongly recommend the 2 year accidental damage plan for only $160

bobberuchi did a great job outlining the steps of getting into a contract phone plan! In regards to your question about the ID, you do need to have a USA government issued picture ID such as a driver’s license, passport, or military ID.
