Phone upgrade question

Hi, I am a Verizon subscriber that is on a family line. I have an upgrade available and I plan to use it on Black Friday.

My question is, do I need to have the account owner/manager with me when I upgrade? We live in different geographical areas so it's quite impossible for me to have him with me on my upgrade.

I am getting conflicting answers though. I asked a Verizon online agent and I was told I need an account manager to upgrade/transfer line. When I asked a person in our family line, he said that I do not need an account manager. I am confused which is true. I plan to get a phone through BestBuy.

Thank you for your help

Re: Phone upgrade question

Hello Clang2016,

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding your ability to upgrade without the account holder present. I'm sure you're looking forward to upgrading your phone with the deals that are likely to be available this holiday season. With that said, we generally require the account holder to be present during an upgrade. I understand that this may present some logistical difficulties for you, and I apologize for any frustration it may cause. However, you may consider shopping online to process your upgrade that way and having the phone shipped to you.

Sincerely,

Re: Phone upgrade question

Hi Tasha,

Thank you for the quick reply.

The online option sounds good. My question is, can I do it with BestBuy or do I have to purchase it via the Verizon website?

Re: Phone upgrade question

Hello Clang2016,

If making the purchase online, you should be able to use Verizon or Best Buy. However, I would still encourage you to have the account holder place the order for shipping to your home.
